Happy Fall and Thanksgiving!
May we be grateful for all that we are blessed with and reach out to others that are not as fortunate as ourselves.
Keep moving forward on getting your families prepared. Step by step is the key!
It's time to check those 72 hr. kits and make sure there are items included to keep you warm with the colder season approaching.
Make sure you always keep your car at least 1/2 full of gas. You might need it in an emergency, especially in the winter season.
Check your car kits to make sure they have updated food and water. Have items that will keep you warm. Some extra boots and gloves wouldn't be a bad idea to have.
The holidays are a great time to give gifts to others to help them get prepared. To help their food storage, 72 hr. emergency kits, first aid kits, etc.
Check the references included with this blog. There is a lot of good information that will help us get prepared.
Enjoy your holiday season!

Mid June... Wow!
Here we are in the middle of June already. Hope you're continuing your quest with getting prepared. The water storage class went well last month and gave lots of suggestions and handouts that you can see at www.lamptonfarms.com. Also, there is an order form included for sanitation and water products that is due to me by Tuesday, June 28th.
The next class is coming up this Thursday, the 23rd on Alternative Power Sources. It will be held at the River Ridge Stake Center (address under references) at 7:00pm. Please plan on attending to receive more important information on getting prepared. Good luck and take care!

Happy May and a special Mother's Day wish to all!
'The spring has sprung, the grass has ris, I wonder how our water storage is'. This month we will be focusing on "WATER STORAGE". So, go survey what you have and ask yourself these questions. Do you need more or less (depending on how your family has changed), do you have different size containers stored, does it need to be rotated, and is it stored properly? The resources listed to the side will help answer these questions. Also, on Thursday, May 26 will be the Stake Class on Water Storage. So, hopefully by then you will have been able to survey your water storage and ask any further questions you might have. Good luck and we'll see you on the 26th!

Thoughts and Prayers
Our thoughts and prayers go out to all those that have been affected by the horrible Tsunami and earthquakes. You just never know when something like this is going to happen. Let's make sure we are working on a plan for our families to be prepared and then in turn help our neighbors. We need to pull together as one strong neighborhood community to help us make it through an emergency. No matter how big or small it might be. One day at a time is better than nothing at all. Keep plugging along! *vickie*

72 hour kits/ water
We are winding down on our focus of 72 hour kits but that doesn't mean it's too late if you haven't started yet or need to add to them. It's an ongoing process. Don't forget the animals in your home and make a kit for them. Things like food, treats, water, toys, blanket or sweater, etc.) See the links to find more about different kind of kits that go from very basic to very detailed.
In April is our Neighborhood CERT Drill. More details to come.
In May, we will be focusing on water with a class from the Stake on May 26th. Water Storage Guidelines from Provident Living... Commercially bottled water in PETE (or PET) plastic containers may be purchased. Follow the container's "best if used by" dates as a rotation guideline. Avoid plastic containers that are not PETE plastic. If you choose to package water yourself, you can find additional information at www.fema.gov/plan/prepare/water or www.epa.gov/safewater/faq/emerg.html.
